DHA Cogen Limited (DCL) is a Public Limited Company incorporated in the city of Karachi on January 19, 2003. DCL is a joint venture between Defence Housing Authority, Karachi (DHA) and Sacoden Investments, Singapore (SI). Its existing Board of Directors comprises representatives of both DHA and SI in the ratio of two to four respectively with another member nominated by Faysal Bank Limited, owing to their placement in the Share capital of the Company.

The primary objective of the Company is to build and operate a Power Generation and Water Desalination Complex. This Complex is intended to fulfill the needs of electricity and potable water of the entire Defence Housing Scheme of Karachi. The electricity shall be generated using Natural Gas as its primary Fuel. The Net Dependable Capacity of the complex shall be approximately 94 MW with a Gross Capacity of 110 MW. The water desalination technology is Multiple Effects Distillation. Sui Southern Gas Company shall supply the Gas and the electricity generated shall be passed on to the system of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation to be redistributed in the area of DHA, Karachi. Water Desalination plant is intended for the purification of 3 million gallons of seawater daily, initially for distribution in the house water distribution system of DHA and subsequent to mineral addition can also be distributed as potable mineral water.
